St Cuthbert Wanderers are delighted to confirm the majority of our friendlies arranged for the build up to the coming season.
First up for Saints is the Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy where we’ll play home matches against Wigtown & Bladnoch FC and Newton Stewart FC.
The Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy is the inaugural iteration of a tournament to honour Jim’s memory. Well known in the region for his time with Tarff Rovers, Jim was part of their side that faced Hearts at Tynecastle in 1961.
“I’d like to thank the teams for agreeing to take part and wish them all the best for the competition as well as the season ahead. I’m glad that two of the clubs closest to Kirkcowan as well as Jim’s grandson are all taking part. I hope the tournament and the fact the matches are local derbies will give the teams a more competitive edge than the usual preseason friendlies.”
Saints Assistant Manager and Jim’s Grandson, Ross Hyslop
Jim’s wife Florence will present the trophy to the winning team.
We’ll follow the tournament with trips to face Kello Rovers and Whitehill Welfare. We’ve also got one weekend fixture still to confirm which we’ll announce in due course.
Matches remain subject to change and we’ll keep you all updated through this site and our social media channels should there be any changes.
NB: Attendance for matches will occur in accordance with the latest COVID guidelines.
