A quick update on this weekend’s planned fixture and a new match on Wednesday vs. Creetown.
We’ve been unable to find a replacement for the proposed match against Newton Stewart this weekend. The first team will still be training tomorrow though and we’ve been able to arrange an alternative match versus Creetown on Wednesday.
Pre-season schedule clashes mean we’re unfortunately unable to host the match against Newton in the coming weeks. That’s had a knock on affect for our plans for the Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy. The trophy will instead be decided with Wednesday night’s match instead of the round-robin previously announced.
We’d like to take the time to thank Wigtown & Bladnoch FC for taking part in the friendly last weekend and wholly understand and support Newton Stewart’s decision to take a safety-first approach in relation to their COVID concerns. The club would like the Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy to become an annual event in preseasons to come and would welcome Newton’s involvement in the next edition.
The match on Wednesday night will still be open gates and we’d ask those attending to consider making a donation at the turnstiles. All donations gathered will be given to a chosen charity to honour Jim’s memory.
For supporters planning to attend, a reminder that COVID protocols will be in place for the match. It means capacity is no more than 250, masks are to be worn on entry and wherever the 2m social distancing is not possible. Track and trace will be in place as well.
