Match Information

Saints close out 2021 with a home tie against Lochar Thistle tonight.

3 points at St Mary’s guarantees that St Cuthbert Wanderers will spend Christmas top of the South of Scotland League table.

Last time out for Saints was a 4-1 home win over Caledonian Braves Reserves. A brace for Thomas Kelly, as well as goals from Russell Williamson and Trialist saw off our opponents.

For Lochar Thistle, their last game was at the end of last month. They beat Wigtown & Bladnoch 4-1 in the Haig Gordon. Thistle were scheduled to play the Wigtown again at the weekend but it was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Pre-Match Comments

“We need to look at the first game of the season. Lochar have some good players in their squad, they work hard for each other as well, and they’ve got a good team spirit.

We know it’ll be a difficult test, as it was in the opening game of the season. We went down in that one before coming back to win, we’ll need to make sure we don’t make it as hard for ourselves this time.

They’ve been a bit inconsistent, winning game you wouldn’t expect but dropping points where you wouldn’t either. On their day they can give a game to anybody though, we need to turn up with the right attitude and get the three points.”

Saints Manager Jordan Williamson
