Match Information
Saints have a third attempt at kicking off 2022 tonight as we travel to Palmerston Park to face Queen of the South in the SCFA Challenge Cup.
Our previous two fixtures this year have been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and a COVID outbreak at our intended opponents, however this one is all set ahead of kick off at 8pm.
Saints come into this one still top of the South of Scotland league table. Though the lead has been cut to a point, Saints retain a game in hand over second-placed Threave Rovers. Saints have only lost once in the league back in July to Stranraer Reserves. We’ve also put in credible performances in the 3-1 Scottish Cup loss to Gala Fairydean Rovers and the 3-2 loss away to Linlithgow Rose in the South Regional Challenge Cup.
The Queens XI is a reserve side, with their last match against a South of Scotland side coming earlier this season in the Potts Cup where they won 8-1 over Newton Stewart. The Queen of the South first team are not in action this weekend in the Scottish Cup, so there is the expectation that first team players could feature here.

Pre-Match Comments
Tonight is another great opportunity for us to test ourselves against a higher standard of opposition. We’ve had a few like this already this season and we’ve done well without getting the result at the end of it.
The players are eager to step up and show their qualities. A few of the boys are ex-pro youth so matches like this are a good way of how far they’ve developed since.
We’re ready for the chance to see how much we can push ourselves and put in a performance that we can take into the rest of the season.
